We wholeheartedly supported the campaign organised by the Accommodation Executive Officer against the planned campus rent increases.

At the beginning of the year, Cllr Tony Phillips and Chris Ward worked with students who were experiencing the many problems on Manor Park. Chris spoke at the student meeting, and pointed out that the rent for Manor Park is not even covered by the student loan - therefore students deserved monetary compensation. Luckily, the university gave into pressure from the students and gave all Manor Park residents a 10% rebate on their rent for that semester.

Now Chris, Steve and Tony will continue campaigning with the University of Surrey Students' Union to ensure you are not ripped off with massive rent increases and that you get value for money in your campus accommodation.
