Local Campaigners (l-r) Steve Freeman, Cllr Tony Phillips, Chris Ward
Chris, Steve, Tony, and Parliamentary Spokesperson Sue Doughty have been campaigning for a CCTV camera in the Tesco underpass for many years. Sue gained agreement by all parties to a number of actions but despite a spate of attacks in certain areas of Onslow, the Tories rejected Lib Dem proposals for extra CCTV until recently, in election year.
The Tesco underpass still doesn't have a camera. Chris Ward was the unfortunate victim of a mugging there not so long ago, ironically being somebody who has campaigned for a camera for the past four years, but to no avail from the Tories on the borough council.
Your local Lib Dem team will continue to campaign for a CCTV camera to be installed in the Tesco underpass. In addition to this, Chris Ward is campaigning for you to get Manor Park bus services for after the Union ends, to ensure your safety on your journey home. When asked about this by Chris at a public meeting, the university representative confirmed this possibility was being looked into.
