Stop Dray Court cuts

Local Campaigners (l-r) Chris Ward, Cllr Tony Phillips, Sue Doughty & Steve Freeman

The Conservatives on Guildford Borough Council are withdrawing services offered to the residents of Dray Court.

When Dray Court opened all residents had the benefit of 24 hour, on site, warden care with a late night call to each resident to ensure all was well.

This situation reduced to a late night service and now the Tories intend to cut this service even further with wardens working normal office hours finishing at 5pm.

Apart from a few residents on an enhanced care scheme funded by SCC, during the evenings and throughout the night those who need care could wait a long time until a warden on call reaches them.

Cllr Tony Phillips said “Dray Court was purpose built to provide the best support for elderly residents.

Sadly it now no longer lives up to that ideal. We will fight to ensure residents get the care they deserve.”
